AUDIO REPORTING

For NPR National, I reported a feature on how milder winters in the Northeast have made Lyme disease-spreading deer ticks more active at a time when they're usually dormant — which experts say are growing public health threat. Aired on NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

My weekly work at Connecticut Public includes reporting 1-2 stories, and can range from a deeply sourced enterprise story, to a quick cut-and-script. I report on the general assignment beat, but my sub-beat covers how the state navigates issues with climate change, the environment and how it impacts our health. This spot highlights possible CT agency responses to extreme temperatures expected over summer 2023, as Texas saw record-breaking heat.

For my journalism graduate capstone, I produced a mixed media project (digital/audio/photo) exploring how loss manifests in the home after a pet dies. In one of the three non-narrated documentaries I produced/edited, my subject speaks about losing her 22 year-old cat.

The full project is located here. (Pub. Dec 2022)

For my graduate school audio documentary course, I reported on how Bushwick, Brooklyn resident Trinidad Rafael made it his mission to keep a community “free store” afloat, even as volunteer-ship waned, and the city slowly returned to pre-pandemic normalcy.

For my final graduate school audio course, I executive produced, sound designed, edited and mixed this bilingual podcast about NYC Corona Plaza’s street vendors working together to find a solution to the harassment, fines, and arrests for not having vendor licenses, which are notoriously hard to obtain in the city.
